ESG within Real Estate & Construction

In Denmark, focus on ESG-issues is becoming increasingly prevalent – a trend that can be seen across different venues of investment.

Regarding construction, contractors are faced with higher demands both from the public, investors, and the authorities. Legal obligations are increasing at a steady pace and in 2021 the government signed a collective agreement to further sustainable construction.

From 2023 all larger development is subject to new permit limits regarding carbon dioxide emission, which will be tightened incrementally towards 2030. Going forward, we estimate that the industry-relevant legislation will see more focus going on resource-efficient construction as well as energy-efficient and healthy buildings. Lundgrens advise contractors, employers, and technical advisors on ESG-matters related to construction and infrastructure, by way of example contracts that focus on the utilization of construction materials instead of new raw materials, energy efficiency in buildings, and biofuel for machinery and plant.
